What this scene is
Flat, dark mare basalt pocked with small craters, 1.2 km across, with West crater on its eastern edge. Heights from the LROC NAC stereo model sharpened to 1 m with 28 more NAC photos; ground brightness measured from the same photos.
1.2 km across, heights every 1.0 m, 53 m from lowest to highest point. 1% of the ground is steeper than 20°.
How close to the real Moon
- Lit like LRO photo M1190561570L, which was never used to build it, the scene's brightness correlates with the photo at r = 0.94 (stereo heights alone: 0.61).
- 28 photos sharpened the stereo heights by 0.05 m RMS. No independent height model is good enough to check that sharpening yet.
- Hills beyond the scene come from coarser elevation data reaching 1–17 km out; anything farther away cannot cast a shadow here.
- Rocks and craters smaller than about 3 m are not in the data.
- The browser exposes the view like a camera metering the sunlit ground, so on-screen brightness shows light and shadow, not absolute brightness.
