Shackleton connecting ridge
Moon Base targetengine offlineThe ridge between Shackleton and de Gerlache; Blue Moon MK1's Moon Base I target.
Why this target
The connecting ridge runs from the rim of Shackleton toward de Gerlache. Its high points see the Sun for most of the year and look down into two of the coldest permanently shadowed craters. NASA names it as the landing area for Blue Origin's Blue Moon MK1 "Endurance" lander on Moon Base I. It was one of NASA's 13 Artemis III candidate regions in 2022 and was left out of the nine in 2024.
